Caroline Wilson says she’s “uncomfortable” with a report about an investigation into Xavier Campbell’s behaviour at a Christmas party in 2015 becoming public now.

The News Corp report about the investigation was made public on Friday on the back of Essendon’s early season struggles.

Campbell re-signed as Essendon CEO more than a month ago, but that news was also only made public this week.

The report about the 2015 investigation dropped a few days later.

“We are such a nasty society, sometimes, aren’t we,” Caroline Wilson said on 3AW Football.

“An incident that happened eight years ago, at a Christmas party where Xavier Campbell had too much to drink and behaved badly and was investigated … why would it come out now?”

Caroline Wilson said she was none-the-wiser as to how the report found its way into the media, but said Essendon “was the most factionalised club” in her experience in footy.
