Tom Elliott wants to know whether latest VCE figures highlight if girls are smarter than boys.

Tom is wondering girls overall doing better in exams than boys in 2023 means they’re smarter, or they’re just better at school.

Education consultant Cheryl Lacey said the median VCE numbers needed more context before a wider assertion was made.

“You can take these figures with a grain of salt,” she said on 3AW Mornings.

“Overall, the figures are pretty vague. Schools are all about everyone benefitting and this is one way to avoid that important context.”
