The new tool Victoria Police are using to target stalkers
Victoria Police will trial profiling stalkers in a bid to prevent serious violence and homicide.
The program, which is also used in the Netherlands, involves a 13 question assessment, as well as individual judgements from officers and input from academics.
From there the stalker is given a rating – low, moderate or high – and includes police speaking to the stalker.
“In low cases, it’s what we call a ‘stop it conversation’,” Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Lauren Callaway said on 3AW Breakfast.
“For those that are more moderate and high they will face criminal charges.”
