Bikie gangs could be stripped of their club colours under new police powers, with The Age reporting the proposed laws would allow police to ban convicted criminals from associating with each other.

The new anti-association laws which would be among the toughest in the country, and retired bikie-busting superintendent Jim Keogh told Ross and Russel bikie club colours “signify a commitment” to the outlaw motorcycle gang.

“You’ve got to send a message to the community that this isn’t something that the government or the people support,” Mr Keogh said.
