The new Australian air routes budget airline Bonza will launch this year
Airline start-up Bonza has announced plans to launch 25 routes across the country when it takes off later this year.
The new domestic airline will offer flights at about half the cost of full-priced airlines.
Most of it’s routes will be those which aren’t currently flown.
Bonza will travel to 16 destinations: Albury, Avalon, Bundaberg, Cairns, Coffs Harbour, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne, Mildura, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba Wellcamp, Townsville and the Whitsunday Coast.
Founder and CEO of Bonza, Tim Jordan, says the airline is doing “something very different”.
“80 per cent of the routes we’ve announced today are not flown by any other airline,” he told Ross and Russel.
“96 per cent of the routes we’ll be flying — all but one — don’t have low-cost flights on them at the moment.”
“We’re going to focus very much on large regional centres that haven’t been well-served before.”
Bonza routes to and from Melbourne will include Bundaberg, Gladstone, Mackay, Mildura, Port Macquarie, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba Wellcamp.
