The move from Greens MP Gabrielle de Vietri which Tom Elliott found ‘extraordinary’

A recent move by Greens MP for Richmond, Gabrielle de Vietri, has caught Tom Elliott’s attention this morning amid the state’s crime crisis.
It comes as Victoria Police declare Richmond and Collingwood a “designated area”, which means police can search anyone in those suburbs if they suspect anyone of carrying a weapon.

“I just find this extraordinary,” the 3AW Mornings host said.
“We are in the middle of a crime wave,” he said.
The Greens MP then explained her decision to take to social media, and went back-and-forth with Tom Elliott as she accused Victoria Police of “racial profiling”.
“The research shows that the over-policing of particular areas in these designated zonings is confronting and disturbing,” de Vietri said.

“It is absolutely a proven fact there is racial profiling and practices in Victoria Police,” she said.
“Clearly she and I have different views on how best to try and stop crime,” Elliott said immediately after the interview.
