A leading sports doctor says Sport Integrity Australia’s (SIA) recommendations on the AFL’s illicit drugs code is the wake up call the competition needs to address several of its failings.

While SIA cleared the AFL of any wrongdoing following independent MP Andrew Wilkie’s explosive allegations in parliament earlier in the year, their findings concluded the secretive nature of the AFL’s drugs policy led to a “level of suspicion”.

“They’ll be a loophole that will be tightened up,” Dr Peter Larkins told Shane McInnes on 3AW Afternoons.
