Respected crime writer from The Age Chris Vedelago says slain underworld figure Sam Abdulrahim made a lot of enemies, complicating the investigation into his death.

Nicknamed ‘The Punisher’, Mr Abdulrahim was shot dead in Preston on Tuesday morning, with police swarming the scene shortly after.

Mr Vedelago told Jacqui Felgate the ongoing tobacco wars would’ve played a large part in the targeted attack.

“It’s a miracle there hasn’t been more fatalities (as a result of the tobacco wars),” he said on 3AW Drive.

“This shooting could be related to the tobacco wars … but he’s also managed to put an enormous amount of people offside.”
