The key question Daniel Andrews needs to answer over “secret” China deal

Victorians should be very concerned by the state government’s “secret deal” with China, according to yet another political analyst.

Dr Clive Hamilton told Neil Mitchell the Belt and Road Initiative was part of a grander plan for China to exert “strategic influence” around the world.

Dr Hamilton, a professor of public ethics at Charles Sturt University, wrote “Silent Invasion: China’s Influence in Australia”.

He said one key question needed to be answered by Daniel Andrews.

“Why does he think Victoria can go it alone, when Canberra has decided it’s in the national interest to not sign up to this,” he said.
