The hidden travel and restaurants fees post COVID you may be missing
Businesses are being urged to be more upfront with customers before charging them with hidden fees tied into travel and dining costs.
The likes of resort fees – where users are hit with an additional charge to stay at certain hotels – or credit card surcharges are on the rise as many businesses move to more contactless payments post the pandemic.
The practice dubbed ‘stealthflation’ has been called out by Finder money expert Sarah Megginson, who says customers should be given the full cost of goods rather that having hidden fees built in.

“We really saw this take off during COVID when businesses pivoted to a more hands-free model,” she told Shane McInnes on 3AW Mornings.
“You can get hit with two fees – you can have a handling fee and then a credit card fee.”
