A nine-year-old living in war-torn Ukraine will get the chance to watch his beloved Melbourne Demons play Collingwood.

Debbie Daks has been talking to Max’s mum online for years, and when the war started she began to send parcels which included recordings of parts of Melbourne games — and the nine-year-old took a liking to them!

“He’s so keen and he’s so proud and it’s really lovely to see because it gives him a new spirit and also for his school mates as well,” she told Neil Mitchell.

The only way Max can watch AFL games is via the short recordings posted in the mail, so Debbie called Neil Mitchell to see if he could help.

Neil contacted Channel 7 and Melbourne Football Club, and little Max will receive a tape of tonight’s game, a message from Max Gawn to nine-year-old Max in Ukraine, and a box of Demons merchandise!
