An Olympic Games-style event with no limits on drug taking is gathering momentum, with multiple lucrative backers signing up to the controversial concept.

Dubbed the ‘Enhanced Games’, the proposal would see no drugs testing take place in an attempt to produce fastest possible times in popular sports such as swimming and track and field.

Renowned sports doctor Peter Larkins said there were “extreme” concerns with the overall concept of introducing a multi-sport event with no rules on drug taking.

“It’s a freedom of choice and it’s been a topic of conversation in the Olympic movement for a couple of decades,” he told Tom Elliott on 3AW Drive.

“The ethical and medical concerns are extreme on that – how much are too much?”
