The day-to-day concussion symptoms Nathan Murphy still has to deal with
Collingwood premiership defender Nathan Murphy says he still deals with “constant headaches” as a result of repeated concussions during his career.
Murphy was forced to medically retire from the game after repeated head knocks, the most recent coming in last year’s Grand Final.
The 24-year-old, who played 57 games for the Pies, says stepping away from the game made sense to protect his overall health.

“There’s constant headaches (dealing with concussion symptoms),” he told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.
“You have good weeks and bad weeks and there’s other stuff going on – I just need to look after that. As much as I love my sport, health ultimately comes first.”
