The ‘complex’ AI problem at least half of teachers are facing
A government inquiry has heard at least half of teachers have marked assignments they were certain had been written by artificial intelligence, but schools have no policies to deal with AI plagiarism.
CEO of Grok Academy, Dr James Curran, says it’s a complex problem because “neither humans nor AI systems can be trusted to predict whether something has been generated by AI”.
“If there’s a 97 per cent chance that it was generated by AI that still doesn’t actually give you any evidence, any examples to say well here is where it’s copied from and so on, to demonstrate that it was actually copied or produced by AI.”
