The Christmas Hero providing presents to the homeless
CHRISTMAS HERO
Roseanne Rofaeel has always wanted to make a difference.
So she started Christmas on the Streets, a drive to provide presents to the homeless and disadvantaged people of Melbourne.
It’s grown into quite a large operation now, but Roseanne told Nick McCallum the initiative almost never happened.
“It started almost by accident,” she said.
“It was Christmas time, the city was decorated, and there were people on the floor; people who were hungry, people who were cold.”
Roseanne said she asked the people what their ideal Christmas present would be, hoping she could enlist some friends to help make those dreams a reality.
The response was staggering.
“I thought maybe 20 people would help me. We had over 100 people come out with thousands of donations,” Roseanne said.
“The support was so real that we grew into a complete charity.”
