The Federal Government is currently examining learner driver systems in different states to see if any changes are needed to support learner drivers.

Victorian learner drivers need to complete 120 hours, while in South Australia it’s only 75 hours and Tasmania it’s 80 hours.

Managing Director at Murcott’s Driving Excellence, Mark Lane, believes the system needs revamping with financial support.

Press PLAY to hear how the learner driver system can be improved

“It has glaring holes in it because who is teaching them for 120 hours, what if Mum and Dad are crap drivers?” Mr Lane told Neil Mitchell.

“I think one of the things that we need to look at federally is some sort of financial support.”
