The slogan on Victoria’s number plates would change to “Open for Business” under an opposition plan unveiled in leaked documents seen by The Age.

The change is part of an opposition economic plan aimed at boosting Victoria’s reputation.

Currently, number plates carry the slogan “Victoria — The Education State”.

Professor of Marketing at RMIT University, Con Stavros,  says the slogan “doesn’t matter” but recommends linking it to tourism.

“Queensland have got ‘Sunshine State’ and they’ve had that for a long period of time, it wraps in with their tourism message,” he told Neil Mitchell.
