The ‘biggest challenge’ facing the umpires in the AFL right now

Newly appointed Head of Umpiring at the AFL, Steve McBurney, has spoken for the first time on 3AW’s Wide World of Sports, addressing what is the “biggest challenge” facing the umpires in the AFL at the moment.

McBurney also responded to reports from Caroline Wilson about how AFL umpires don’t have a permanent ground to train on.

“That’s not strictly speaking accurate,” McBurney said.
