A major Australian-produced crime miniseries is set to launch on Netflix this week, with Andrew Rule predicting it’ll be a “very big hit” globally.

Boy Swallows Universe, which is based on a crime novel by Trent Dalton, streams from this Thursday and tells the coming-of-age story of a boy involved who enters the Brisbane underworld.

The crime writer said the eight-part show would draw a significant audience considering its appeal across a range of demographics.

“It is one of those stories where showbiz, sport and crime all come together,” he told Mark Allen and Jimmy Bartel on 3AW Breakfast.

“I think it’ll be a very big hit.”
