The ‘astounding’ trend on Victoria’s roads that has police concerned
Victoria’s acting assistant commissioner of road policing says he’s “astounded” by how many motorists aren’t wearing seat belts.
It comes amid a spike in road deaths.
Twelve road deaths so far this year have been directly linked to not wearing a seat belt, but acting assistant commissioner of road policing, Martin O’Brien, says he “would expect that to rise”.

“International research says you’re at 50 per cent greater chance of survival so I’m absolutely amazed that people aren’t just putting that belt on,” Mr O’Brien told Ross and Russel.
