The AFLW kicks off this weekend and there’s plenty to look forward to
The AFL Women’s league kicks-off tonight with Collingwood taking on old rivals Carlton at Ikon Park, but that’s not the only game in town this weekend.
Speaking to 3AW’s Neil Mitchell, captain of the Melbourne Football Club’s women’s team, Daisy Pearce, said fans have a real appetite for women’s football.
‘There is a rawness and a pureness to the football we’ll play given this is the first chance we’ve had to do it at a semi-proffesional level…footy fans and new fans will really enjoy it’.’ she said.
Melbourne will be facing the Brisbane Lions on Sunday and Pearce says they are ready for the challenge.
‘Let’s hope people tune in, the positive thing for people to keep in my mind this is merely the starting point.’
