Tom Elliott says Australia’s recycling system is “absurdly complicated” and it makes him angry.

“Our recycling system, quite literally, is a mess,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

The Australia Institute’s circular economy and waste program director, Nina Gbor, says many of the recycling system’s problems stem from the lack of “harmonised” recycling systems across the country.

“Different recycling facilities have different rules and again with different councils it’s different things that can and cannot be recycled,” she told Tom Elliott.
