Sixteen year old Lucy and her mum Carly have detailed the horrific incident where Lucy was hit by a car on Cranbourne Road in Frankston.

Lucy has endured 11 surgeries in the year since the incident, including three operations at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond, with another two likely to go.

Lucy ran across the road when the traffic lights turned orange to catch a bus, with a ute then coming through and collecting her at 80 kilometres an hour.

She claimed it has her fault and delivered the important message “not to be stupid around roads”, while her mum had a similar sentiment.

“Slow down, look both ways and if you’re going to miss that bus, don’t worry there’ll be another one coming,” Carly told Neil Mitchell.
