‘That should get their attention’: Melbourne is cracking down on oBike
FIRST with NEIL MITCHELL
Melbourne is cracking down hard on oBikes, with authorities joining forces to stop their unwanted spread across the city.
The EPA, working with councils, has increased fines to $3000 for every bike dumped on streets and blocking waterways across Melbourne.
Operators will have two hours to remove bikes from streets, and up to seven days to remove them from waterways.
It’s a big change from the “paltry” $200 fines previously issued.
“That should get their attention,” EPA chief Niall Finnigan told Neil Mitchell today.
