Police are on the lookout for two men believed to be involved in a terrifying attempted bike theft in Springvale South last week.

Police have been told a 16-year-old boy from Kew agreed to meet a man at a park on the corner of Springvale and Heatherton Road at 5:30pm on August 8 to sell a bike, when two men produced machetes in an attempt to steal the bike.

The driver of the car approached the offenders before they fled on foot empty handed.

There were no injuries from the incident.
