Tom Elliott has labelled Victoria’s justice system a “joke” after finding out one of the state’s most serious alleged youth offenders has been granted bail for the 50th time.

Police have described the 14-year-old as “one of our most prolific youth offenders” after being accused of a three-day crime spree.

“I almost fell off my chair when I read this this morning,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“I find this extraordinary,” he said.

“He should be in jail, he’s obviously a risk to the community.”

Criminal defence lawyer at Gallant Law, Jonathan Brancato, says it makes sense why the youth offender has been bailed so many times after looking at the case in a bit more detail.

“I understand why the alleged victims are baffled,” Mr Brancato said.
