Sydney coach reveals resilience of young star

Sydney coach John Longmire says the club is more than happy with the career progression of Isaac Heeney.

The highly-rated young gun burst onto the scene and looked a future champion of the game, and while he has been a very good player for the Swans is yet to grab the competition by the horns as some thought he would.

But Longmire said there were reasons Heeney had spent most of his career up forward and not in the centre of the ground.

“If you knew what he was playing with most weeks, you’d say he’s been outstanding,” he said.

“He’s had some really difficult injuries he’s had to overcome and he still gets out there and plays and it’s been remarkable.

“His ability to be able to play with injury has been as good as I have seen and most often it’s injury nobody knows about.”
