Swan Hill woman charged over Facebook post
A woman has been charged with religious vilification and incitement over a comment on social media.
The 38-year-old wrote a Facebook post calling for ‘all mosques to be burnt down with the doors locked at prayer time’.
The woman has been charged by Swan Hill police.
But she told The Age she can’t be charged with racial vilification because she doesn’t acknowledge Islam as a religion.
She says its nothing more than an ‘evil, hateful ideology’.
Acting editor of the Swan Hill Guardian newspaper Grant Banks says the comments are ‘divisive’.
The woman is due to appear at Swan Hill Magistrates’ Court on February 16.
