Stringer no automatic for finals: Leigh Matthews
The Western Bulldogs have left star forward Jake Stringer out of the team for another week.
Stringer was omitted from the round 22 clash against the Bombers and failed to make his way back into the seniors following a 21 disposal match in the VFL last Sunday.
Despite kicking 37 goals so far this season along with having an ability to turn a match with his own brilliance, Leigh Matthews says Stringer’s finals position in the Bulldogs team could now be in doubt.
‘He’s all of a sudden not an automatic selection I would have thought,’ Matthews told Sports Today.
‘Two weeks in a row means he’s out of favour.’
The Bulldogs face Fremantle in Perth this Sunday, which will be the final home and away match for the season.
By the time the Bulldogs play, they will know whether a win could secure a home final, given the Eagles and Giants both play beforehand.
