The state government has been slammed for ‘taking out the trash’ on a significant announcement on probate fees rising in the coming months.

Victoria has announced they will slug grieving families more, with certain ‘death’ fees now slated to rise by up to 650 per cent according to the state government’s announcement on Monday.

Jacqui Felgate called out the government for the timing of the announcement, which came on a quiet today ahead of Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup public holiday.

“Dump the worst news on a day where no one is watching.”
