Sportsday host Shane McInnes has questioned whether interest in the Big Bash League is waning.

After 17 games of the tournament, crowds have slipped and McInnes told Sportsday the league was missing star names – both international and domestic.

“Crowds are down for the second year in a row and television numbers don’t appear to be as prolific as previous seasons,” he said.”

“Too often the Big Bash suffers because of the results of international cricket.

“The unavailability of Aaron Finch for the Renegades on (Thursday night) is a perfect example – Finch isn’t playing for Australia in the fourth Test in Sydney but was released too late to be apart of the Renegades game in Geelong.

“Aaron Finch loses out on batting time and fans in Geelong miss out on seeing one of the country’s most prolific T20 players.”
