Another speed camera operator has been targeted in a violent attack.

It’s the third attack Neil Mitchell has heard about in the past few weeks.

On Anzac Day a female speed camera operator was attacked in St Leonards and last week a bottle was thrown at a speed camera operator’s car in Bulla.

Last night, the operator was shifting locations in Tullamarine when he was followed by another vehicle.

When the operator parked two people got out of the car in clown masks.

“They both jumped out of the vehicle and ran towards his vehicle, launching pieces of wood at the camera car, Community and Public Sector Union spokesperson Julian Kennelly told Neil Mitchell.

“It’s a really, really disturbing incident.”

Mr Kennelly took aim at the police, who he says aren’t taking attacks on camera operators seriously enough.

“We’re just at our wits end trying to look after the safety of our people and we’re not getting any support whatsoever from the company, nor Victoria Police who contract the company,” he said.

“If these were police officers the police would be absolutely outraged, but because they’re a contractor to them, and they’re not directly employed, they don’t seem to give enough thought to what’s happening to these people out on the road.”
