Sorry beer drinkers, that low-carb brew isn’t any better for you
Questionable marketing is to blame for consumer’s confusion around “healthy” beers, a Cancer Council survey has found.
As reported in the Herald Sun, drinkers are being misled into believing low carb beer is a healthier option, because of marketing strategies.
Manager for the Cancer Council’s Live Lighter campaign Alison McAleece, told Justin and Kate the numbers came as a surprise.
“In our survey one in three men and one in five women listed a low-carb beer as a healthy option,” Alison said.
“When in fact it’s the alcohol itself that’s doing the damage.
“To be honest, all beer is quite low in carbohydrates.
“But that’s not the point.”
