Officers from Victoria, New South Wales and federal police are involved in a new targeted search for the remains of Ballarat mother Samantha Murphy.

The operation started yesterday and will resume this morning, seven months after the 51-year-old was last seen alive while going for a run.

Crime reporter John Silvester (aka Sly of the Underworld) has explained on 3AW Breakfast why interstate police are now involved.

Press PLAY to hear him explain

Twenty three year old Patrick Stephenson has been charged over Samantha’s murder, with the case returning to court in November.
