‘Sick of it’: Jacqui Felgate calls out ‘wild’ political spamming ahead of election

Jacqui Felgate has called out the “wild” spamming from politicians ahead of the federal election on Saturday, in particular from the Trumpet of Patriots party.

The 3AW Drive host said she’s got three messages from the party today, and questioned how many messages the community has gotten in recent days.

“I’m just sick of it to be honest,” Felgate said.

“Is it time to put rules around political parties spamming you?

“People are well and truly over it.”

Professor of Political Communication at La Trobe University, Andrea Carson, told Jacqui Felgate rather than persuading people to vote for them, the spamming could have the opposite affect.

“Being bombarded with these messages can have the opposite affect, and really turn off voters,” Professor Carson said on 3AW Drive.
