Should you be able to text Triple Zero?

A 3AW Mornings listener who witnessed an agitated man yelling on a train home last night says she wishes she could have texted Triple Zero.

Lisa Robinson told Tony Jones the man started becoming unruly after getting on the Craigieburn train at North Melbourne as she pondered what to do if the situation escalated.

She said she didn’t want to call Triple Zero with the man so close to her, unsure what he may do next.

“I thought to myself why can’t I text Triple Zero, that would make it not noticeable to him that I’m doing that,” she said.

“I thought being a woman, we could discreetly text, it could just be safer for the passengers.”
