Should manners be updated and refreshed for the 21st century?
Do manners need to be updated for the 21st century?
Founder of Polish Works, Adi Ritchie, a manners teacher, told Tom Elliott they most certainly do.
‘I think we are becoming exceptionally lazy with our manners and our grammar, we are lowering the standard.’ she said.
‘It’s like our language; it changes all the time…we have other things like social media where we need to have a code of conduct’
Ms Ritchie doesn’t believe children should be able to refer to teachers by their first name.
‘Where do we start off teaching respect for people? We start it at school. It’s one of the first signs of respect.’
Ms Ritchie offers some general manner and etiquette advice for the 21st century.
