A video from New Year’s Eve in Paris has caught the eye of Shane McInnes, prompting him to question why so many people opt to film major events rather than enjoy the moment.

The video, who has since gone viral on X (formally Twitter), showed thousands of people on Paris’ famous Champs-Élysées with their phones out capturing celebrations.

The 3AW Afternoons host doesn’t understand why people continue to excessively film events such as concerts and other major gatherings, rather than putting the phone away and enjoying the experience.

“I think it’s an awful habit,” Shane said on Wednesday afternoon.

“Especially when those around you have spent hundreds of dollars to see a performance, not your arm waving around the air.”
