Shane McInnes calls for alternative on Melbourne-Sydney route as costs escalate

Shane McInnes says it’s time to look at alternative means of transport between Melbourne and Sydney as flight costs continue to escalate.

With Bonza and Rex collapsing in recent months, airfares between the cities have skyrocketed, most notably around major events such as the Australian Open.

“People need an alternative,” he said on 3AW Afternoons.

“If this week’s airfares prove anything, it’s that Qantas and Virgin yield all the power and you have very little.”
