Shane McInnes and lawyer clash over police tactics during protests

Shane McInnes and a police misconduct lawyer have clashed over how Victoria Police handled Wednesday’s violent protests in the city.

Police were forced to arrest over 30 people as anti-war protests centred around the Land Forces expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre turned ugly.

“According to the Greens and advocates for these protestors the police were heavy handed in their response (on Wednesday),” Shane said on 3AW Drive.

Injury Law and Police Misconduct lawyer Jeremy King didn’t agree, saying it was important Victoria Police’s tactics were also scrutinised.

“I deplore heavy-handed militarised tactics,” he said on 3AW.
