Shadow Finance Minister not happy with ‘pretty ordinary’ budget

Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume is far from impressed with what she’s described as a “pretty ordinary” budget delivered by the Albanese government on Tuesday night.

New tax cuts and energy and HECS debt relief were cornerstones of Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ budget announcement.

But Senator Hume told Money News the budget was designed purely for the short term.

“This is a pretty ordinary looking budget,” she said.

“It’s a budget for the next five weeks.”
