Sex Party leads calls to start taxing religious organisations
The Sex Party is calling for religious organisations to start paying tax.
Currently, over one-third of organisations that claim charitable status list ‘advancement of religion’ as their reason for tax exemption.
Sex Party leader Fiona Patten commissioned a report to look into how much tax revenue is being denied as a result.
Ms Patten told Tom Elliott it could be as much as $31 billion.
‘There’s Scott Morrison’s budget problem solved,’ Tom said.
Both Tom and Ms Patten agreed that charitable work done by religious organisations should be tax deductible.
