Residents in several councils are being assured their rubbish will be collected, despite some experiencing delays due to COVID-related driver shortages.

Peter Anderson, Victorian Waste Management Association CEO, confirmed the reports on 3AW on Thursday.

“People will have noticed their bins being out an extra day or two,” he said.

Mr Anderson said it had been an issue for several weeks now, but assured the public their rubbish would be collected.

Moreland Council is one council which has been affected.

“Our services went back to normal yesterday and continue to be normal today,” Cathy Henderson, CEO of Moreland Council, told Tony Jones, who is filling for Neil Mitchell.

“The pandemic is hard for everyone.”
