Victorian Liberal Senator and shadow Home Affairs spokesman, James Paterson, has called on the federal government to be “more transparent” with the public on the asylum seeker who is in hiding.

138 people have been released from indefinite detention, after the High Court ruled the policy is unlawful, with most in the group wearing ankle bracelets, but one person is on the run.

“Why on earth should the public be kept in the dark, while this person is out free in the community, completely unrestricted?” Senator Paterson told Neil Mitchell.
