‘Scumbag’ steals swings from playgrounds in Melbourne’s outer-east
Heartless thieves who stole swings including some specially designed for children with disabilities in Melbourne’s outer-east could be selling them online.
Knox Council is investigating after eight swings were cut from their chains in Boronia, Ferntree Gully and Rowville in recent weeks.
Five of those are for children with disabilities.
Knox mayor John Mortimore told Nick McCallum the council had spent $15,000 replacing the swings this year.
“Some scumbag out there is targeting these swings that are for kids with very special needs, this is all they have got,” he said on 3AW Drive.
“They take these swings away they can’t go and hop another piece of play equipment like the other kids can.
“Someone out there knows who is doing this.”
