Scrapping draws completely ‘worth having a look at’
Draws could soon be a thing of the past in the AFL, with Gillon McLachlan revealing the issue is “on the agenda” at league headquarters.
The AFL chief executive told Neil Mitchell new football operations boss Steve Hocking would look at the merits of scrapping the draw completely – not just in finals – following last Saturday’s epic elimination final between Port Adelaide and West Coast.
“We’ll clearly have a look at everything – it was pretty compelling,” McLachlan confessed on 3AW Mornings.
“I feel the draw is part of our game and I still think it has a place … but I certainly think it’s worth having a look at in the context of the home and away season.”
