‘Scares the hell out of us’: CFA volunteers to strike over infrastructure ruining rural communities
CFA volunteers are refusing to protect high-voltage transmission lines and renewable infrastructure such as solar and wind farms.
Former captain and current CFA volunteer, Gerald Feeney, says projects have been green-lit by the government without any input from regional communities.
“We’re seeing solar, wind projects, battery projects, transmission lines loaded up on the rural community out here, and Victoria is rated – in the world – as one of the higher risks for catastrophic fire danger,” he told Jacqui Felgate.

Mr Feeney also says they want to protect regional communities.
“It scares the hell out of us,” he added.
CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan then joined 3AW Drive and reassured the public that the CFA will always do what they can to protect their communities.
