‘Scam’: 13Cabs issue warning about dodgy cowboy taxi drivers ahead of Australian Open

13Cabs has warned to be careful ahead of the Australian Open, as cowboy taxis are expected to use a new scam to price-gouge passengers.

13Cabs chief operating officer Olivia Barry told 3AW Mornings taxi drivers without branding are not following the rules regarding meters.

“Very frequently, they’ll charge whatever they like, and they do that because there is no way to lock that metered price to the payment terminal,” she said.
