Sam Lalor taking ‘great confidence’ from being named top draft pick

Sam Lalor says he will gain a “lot of confidence” by being taken with the top selection in this year’s draft.

The explosive midfielder heads to Richmond as part of a mammoth draft haul for the club this year.

Moments before being taken by the Tigers, Lalor told Sam McClure and Matthew Richardson he would relish the pressure that comes with being a number one pick.

“Yeah it makes a difference (to be taken at pick one),” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“It gives me a lot of confidence, to go before a bid (on an academy selection) would make me feel like the club would want me.”
