Was a player in an Under 17 Football Final chased and hit with a garden stake wielded by another player on Sunday?

Police can confirm they were called to Galvin Park, Werribee around 4pm yesterday.

They were responding to reports of a disturbance.

The 3AW Breakfast team spoke with someone from the Werribee Districts football club, they’re still trying to determine exactly what happened at Galvin Park yesterday, but say the person who was assaulted was not playing in the match at the time, and is not in hospital.

They believe a garden stake may have been wielded at some stage, but don’t think it was used in the alleged assault.
